About Us
Our Story
VTT - Virtual Tire Technologies is an official technology spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM), specializing in advanced, physics-based tire simulation. VTT continues the successful work of tire model development and transfers the technology to industry partners. Key product and technology is the software-framework CDTire, a state-of-the-art physical tire model family. CDTire enables on the one hand side the automotive industry and anyone with the need of tire simulation to perform highly realistic virtual tire simulation in a full vehicle context for almost all performance application. On the other hand side, allows the detailedness and physicality of the CDTire to adapt the predictiveness of the FEM tire models usually used on tire manufacturer side. Therefore, CDTire allow the tire manufacturers to build tire variants on a constructive level which can be used to accelerate in the OE tire development together with their automotive customers. The software supports automotive and tire manufacturers across the entire development process, from early concept phases to vehicle-level simulation, helping reduce physical testing, prototype costs, and development time while improving accuracy for comfort, durability, driving dynamics, and electric vehicle efficiency. The company has been founded in 2025 and is based in Kaiserslautern, Germany — right beside its origin the Fraunhofer ITWM.

Our Mission
Our mission is to further enhance virtual tire development to a level that not only highly accurate and realistic simulations of a already existing tire are possible. Moreover, our claim is to model all the reinforcement layers and rubber zones in the tire in a geometrically exact way to allow to build tire predictive tire variants by only changing geometry and material properties. By transferring this tire variants to realtime capable clones these variants can be used also in a subjective assessment on driving simulators. By doing this we want to establish an interface between tire manufactures and their automotive customers which helps to accelerate the OE tire development. This reduce costs and development time/cycles — from early concept phases to vehicle-level validation. When do you start?
Why VTT?
